"Monochrome paintings for Knokke.

Interference colors blue, indigo, magenta, red, turquoise, violet.

Interference colors are colors whose effect is based on superimposing phenomenae of light waves on thin, highly reflective light layers. They change their color depending on the viewing angle. The strongest effect is on a dark background, on a white one instead it is very subtle.

In recent years, I have contradicted the idealisation of monochromy in painting with a series of works which illustrate the difficulties in producing large homogeneous surfaces. In this context, the resistance of effect colors' special handling in particular suits very well.

The deliberately simple freehand color application with the palette knife gives a texture which, in conjunction with the movement of the viewers through the space, shows new changing color effects again and again."
